A Greyhound bus collided with a tractor-trailer on a highway near Henderson, North Carolina on Wednesday, December 2, injuring almost 50 people. The driver of the bus had to be airlifted to a local hospital with unknown injuries and the driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured from the accident.

UNC Hospitals spokeswoman Stephanie Crayton said two people in critical condition were airlifted to the Chapel Hill hospital, but it was unclear whether one was the bus driver.

Maria Parham Medical Center in Henderson took 49 injured from the accident, none appeared to be critically injured.

The bus was traveling southbound behind the tractor-trailer on U.S. 1 and failed to slow down when the truck made a left turn. The bus collided with the tractor-trailer and ran off the right shoulder, down an embankment, and tipped onto its side.
